flowers...

the seed head of a painted daisy in late day sun...

the petals are gone, but the beauty remains...

my gerber daisy sprouted another bloom :)

she's not quite ready to show her face...

 

my begonia drops it petals in a messy pile on the floor,

and I went to clean them up and toss them out.

as I scooped them up, I realized that,

like the painted daisy in the first image above,

a flower past its prime is still beautiful.

these petals looked like fairies or butterflies

and had the same mystical magic...

 

 

 

all of the images were enhanced with combinations of snapseed,

and the gerber daisy has textures from kim klassen.

life after work :)

i feel like i'm on an extended vacation, or playing hooky from work.

like i should be in a studio instead of driving to the river.  the guilt hits and then, i remember that its ok, i retired.  what a wonderful feeling :)

 

i wandered the neighborhood this week, and had a ball...

gardens are in bloom and i am seeing it all with new eyes, thanks to my macro lens.

i can then spend time playing with textures and software. 

again - no guilt. 

well, except for the dustbunnies in the corners, the cat hair on the rugs,

and the laundry i need to put away. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

even though i retired, and my hours are my own,

i've been working on my etsy shop, my facebook page and life feels really full.

in a good way :)

petite petals...

spring comes a little bit earlier on the cape than it does in enfield...

the andromeda bushes have rows and rows of tiny blossoms. 

from far away, the bushes look messy,
but up close, the little flowers are just beautiful :)

a light heart...

when i brought my plants inside last fall, hoping to keep them alive over the winter,

i knocked a piece off my begonia...

i stuck it in a bottle of water and forgot about it.

last week, just in time for Valentine's Day,

the broken piece had a tiny fragile bloom...

enhanced with kim klassen's 'awaken' texture

winter beauty...

it was supposed to snow on saturday, not a blizzard, but somewhere between 3-6 inches.  thinking it would be perfect timing for some winter pictures, i got up early to photograph the snowfall at daybreak. 

 it was disappointing to see there wasn't a flake in sight.  

a year ago, we had 3+ feet on the ground; this winter, the only significant snowstorm was in october. 

finally around 7am, a few flurries fell but by 9am the sun was glowing behind the clouds, ending any hope for a winter wonderland...   

despite the disappointing accumulation of nothin', i went out to take pictures anyway. 

and on a grayish brown day, that looked pretty boring at first glance, there was a whole lot of beauty, everywhere i drove...  

apparently, i needed that lesson :)

three's a crowd

i worked all day in the office, the only human i saw was joey - so CROWD was not a smart word choice. however i found a few crowds at home, then took a ride to a mall and did some stalking of strangers.

there's a crowd of chipmunk stalkers, a crowd of daffodil sprouts, a crowd of pickup trucks and a crowd of people worrying about the crazy person in the handicap parking taking pics through the front door of the long wait at the local red robin restaurant...

lend a hand

last saturday's word was hand.

i was obsessed all day with hands, drove myself nuts...
i felt like a hand-paparazzi, stalking hands, sneaking pics of hands, re-taking pics of hands.

come to find out, it was just the beginning of the daily word obsession...
